I've read a lot about the T&R commissions in history class, and they are quite interesting. Until I read about them I had no idea how controversial the idea was, and how hard the people on it had to fight to get a lot of evidence included, not that all of it was.

In terms of applying this to North America, both US and Canada, it feels even more difficult. On the one hand, we have a whole bunch of white people who are completely clueless on the topic of institutionalized racism and its historical path. On the other, we have people who are aware but are so defensive about it that the conversation can get nowhere. I often feel completely helpless.

Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh to-day as when they first passed through their authors' minds ages ago. - Samuel Smiles
