I was wondering if everyone will look at young people (the 30 and under crowd) and fear them from here on out. I mean, look at how many of these 30 and under types have shot up schools, theatres, bombed or targeted humans for pain and killing. Do these two speak for all males 26 and under?

young, white men...most of my life actually, having grown up a White Southern woman, I learned that early.

As a child we lived not very far from the TN State penitentiary and when inmates would break out they would head in our direction (across the state line).  The local news would flash those bulletins and show pictures of them, they were nearly always young, white men.

I was terrified they would come into our town and kidnap me (don't ask me why).  Also, I was terrified of Charlie Manson when I was a kid.  And James Earl Ray, Lee Harvey Oswald.  White men with three names (I grew up Southern, remember).

I don't understand where this "scary black men" thing came from, because in my life, it was always scary white men.

And then when I became a young adult woman, there were other reasons to be scared of white men, more intimate ones.

is just that they always list criminals' middle names to try and differentiate them as much as possible from other people who might share the same first and last names, not that those people actually referred to themselves by all 3 names in their daily lives.

We could live without fear of one another. I doubt even cave dwellers could do this. Heck, chimpanzes even wage wars on each other. Sure doesn't feel as if we've really advanced very far from our distant primate relatives.

if you are at risk, as young women can very often be, from young men.

I think what we need to aim toward living without is the need for fear.

But I do share your goal...

But the things I'm afraid of from young men (or that I used to be afraid of from young men) had nothing to do with war...
