    earlier eras weren't "fighting to stay in power" instead of "fighting for what they believed in".

    Politics is, and always has been, the career choice of those who desire to hold the reins of power.

      A one term president."  Was there ever a time before 2009 in which the congressional Leader of one of the parties explicitly and publicly stated that as their #1 goal?  Was it sad by the Republican Leader in the house or Senate during JFK's time?

      What does it take for progressive critics of President Obama to acknowledge how different things are today than in the past?

        People want a bully pulpit but when a major response by the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES about the failure of gun control legislation is not on the air on one of the most watched "news" channels on television, something that would NEVER have happened in the 60's, then we're talking apples and oranges.
