      heard twice , long time to second..the call was loud and tapered off in descending pitch and volume.

      will check Sora and Rail...it was unseen in deep marsh by the lake here in sbarbara.

      hints?...aha: Sora.exactly that call, yay me!

      coots, mallards, swan, wtkites eating someone, a kingbird, and some corvid looking like a big big Mockingbird...bigger than the jay that was harassing it, big as or bigger than the Kingbird, black head and beak, grey front, top unseen. almost seemed like a grey magpie but was neither kind I have seen.

      An odd thing: on ucsb campus point is a cliff, and we have migrating and resident Cormorants.

      there was two days of 30-45 mph winds, and a week afterward I found 6 dead Cormorants lying at the base of the cliff. They aren't real agile flyers, my thought was a flight was blown into the cliff. strange.
