    Cut your self some slack dearheart. There is no perfect way through this.

    Someone upthread suggested less visiting. Shorter or fewer might be a good idea. Something that helped me:

    I don't know how Hospice is set up in your vicinity, but when I was caring for my Mom - I was in her home in another state .
    I was able to access 2 or 3 Hospice volunteers. One would come watch Mom's favorite daytime soap with her. Another came and gave her mani-pedis. I don't remember what else they did -nothing medical - just gave her some companionship. The breathing space they gave me kept me going for 18 very long months.

    Maybe you can find, if not Hospice, some Caring Friends sort of group able to offer some friendship and distraction that your MIL might even enjoy.

    No matter what, take care of yourself and your love. Take some time to go off and do something for yourselves even  an hour long walk in a quiet park.
