  •  So scary (9+ / 0-)

I think that of all that is is going on around us my fears don't involve foreign terrorists, bombs or any of the things that we're told should scare us.  I value my is mine, by definition, but the 2 entities that may be the scariest of all; government intelligence agencies and mega corporations who really answer to no one want to team up to collect everything they can about me?  Now that's some scary stuff.
We have given up so very much in the name of national security, many have have been jailed, reputations ruined, financially devastated that our democracy is rapidly becoming a hollow shell.  Already far too much is available in databases about our every financial transaction, now our personal correspondence is to be accessible?
That one of the more influential newspapers in the country is aiding and abetting the effort makes it even more chilling.

    •  WE did not give up anything.... (4+ / 0-)
We have given up so very much in the name of national security...
Our Cretinous Congress Critters gave it up for us WITHOUT asking our permission.

Criminals or no criminals, if I'd have had a vote on giving up our rights I would have voted a resounding "Hell, NO!"

There's no better time to keep our rights than in a middle of a crime wave.

BTW, we STILL do not have our rights returned to us, not even habeas corpus!

I'm sick of attempts to steer this nation from principles evolved in The Age of Reason to hallucinations derived from illiterate herdsmen. ~ Crashing Vor
