  •  It's also surprising the French. I guess it (29+ / 0-)

takes "outside agitators" to awaken violence.  How sad that Christianists aren't vilified for their anti-life anti-rights activities the way Islamists are.  These are hate and fear driven people who twist religion until it resembles them, then use it to defend their actions.  They all deserve mockery and dismissal.

    •  The right will stop using and promoting violence (10+ / 0-)

when they are actually punished for it. As it stands now they have not been punished, and have been rewarded politically for their violence. The lack of access to abortion is a perfect example of their successful use of violence. See also: The Brooks Brothers Riot

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.

we have a lot of power we don't make use of, despite gerrymandering and a piss-poor media.  Look at what Obama's done to take down the Republican's 4 main propaganda lies - Strong on Defense, Able to Keep us Safe, Fiscally Responsible, Defenders of Patriotism.

If we had a politically savvy dude in every state marshaling the crowd, we'd have them on the ropes in bright red districts.

They're successful at the propaganda game because we spend more time decrying what they do than we spend selling truth.  Even Tea Party sympathizers are a little rocked by what their heroic governators and legislators are doing.  When the Big Gubmint RW starts cutting services you depend on, instead of just forcing wand rapes on naughty ladies or making sure it's okay for white guys to shoot scary black guys just because they're scary and black, your passion for their activism dims a bit.  That whole "we can't afford street lights" or "we can't pay first responders" thing induces genuine fear, not media-induced paranoia.

        •  I don't disagree with any of that (6+ / 0-)

I'm just saying it's high time that the right be held accountable for the dead they are responsible for. Why is it that Randolph doesn't come up in every discussion of abortion? Or the Tiller murder. The primary means through which women's access to abortion has been restricted has been the use of violence against providers and against women themselves. And the only discussions of political violence I hear, even here, are whether breaking windows at a protest is misguided or evil.

You know all of this, obviously, I just need to rant about it sometimes because it's so damn frustrating to me.

from my own potential for violence I think.  All that anger/hurt/confusion needs an outlet.  When I read about the extent of RW violence, the lengths they're willing to go to, I'm baffled.  I wonder if we're the same species.

My only understanding comes when I examine what profound fear can do to me, to my values and my convictions.  Fear is an acid that eats it's container.  The leftover husk doesn't really resemble a fully-human being.
