This isn't much of a 'study', and the results are obvious. "Visitors to web sites tend to express opinions that mirror those of their political party." Que surpreso!

I'd be willing to believe that anti-vaccination and similar opinions are positively correlated with left wing political beliefs as well.

Well, they used to be antivax.

They had to manage a child with chicken pox, and they "evolved" on the issue.

I live in just about the most leftish place there is. Vaccination rates among kids entering kindergarten are shockingly low. As a group, their white hippie parents distrust Big Medicine, Big Government, and authority in general. It would probably be fair to call them left libertarians (see Sparhawk's sig line).

        •  I don't think many of them have much in (0+ / 0-)

common with Sparhawk's devotion to markets, bank balances, and the perks of property. They may distrust authority, but in general they support things like progressive taxation, single payer health care (of course, they expect it to pay for their inane alternative non-medicine), and strong, serious government intervention in daily economic affairs -- e.g., living wages, tenants' rights, etc.

Other than hedonism, about the only thing they have in common with the Sparhawks of the world is a romanticism -- but they tend to romanticize very different things.

To generalize (always dangerous!), many local hippies do take libertarian positions on such issues as recreational drugs, reproductive choice, gay rights, rights of privacy etc. They may not quite share Sparhawk's position on property rights, but they would for example try to build whatever they like on their property without design review and permits.
