    Socialism is partially premised on the "from each according to their ability" part of the equation, thus there must be a contribution.  Besides, automation will mostly replace only brainless jobs; work requiring a human brain to accomplish it will always be necessary.  Those lacking in that department will find themselves replaced, while there will always been a need for those so equipped, thus the latter will never be provided with unearned income in order to incentivize them to continue working, and the former's lives will not be voluntarily financed by the latter's.
