Even if they like her personally they will nominate some wing nut who will run against Obama. She would have to vote against Obama almost all the time to have a chance.
Assuming she wins it's a fluke like the time the democrats lost the special election in New Orleans. Some districts are just to partisan to be competitive except under extraordinary circumstances,.

Of course she may not vote against him on the issues they want her to vote against him. But there's so much not to like in what the President proposes, even for Democrats.

My guess is that virtually every Democrat in the House is going to run as the non-Obama "independent" in 2014. The variation will be in which votes they stress, the progressive votes against Obama's "moderate" chess moves or the Blue-Dog votes against Obama's rare progressive ones.

He left it all on the field for that one.  He also really did work hard on closing Guantanimo, but was sabotaged by cowardly Dems in congress.  He also managed to get DADT repeal done.  Even though it seemed too slow. He had a plan and got it done.

          •  It's kind of a stretch.... (0+ / 0-)

.....to call the ACA truly progressive. I mean, it's a moderate-conservative market based health plan, not single payer. No public option. No Medicare buy-in. I realize that a lot of this is due to grandstanding from assholes like Lieberman and Ben Nelson. But, there's not a lot of evidence that Obama was pressing really hard for more progressive options. And single payer was never even on the table.

The other things you mention are all good, progressive programs that I appreciate Obama's efforts for. It's also worth noting that none of those stepped on corporate toes.

          •  And what, pray tell, (0+ / 0-)

did Obama do to facilitate DADT repeal? Did he go out there and encourage Congresscritters to vote through the repeal? No. Did he use the power of the bully pulpit to push it into public awareness? No. Did he even use the direct, executive power of the Presidency to put out a stop-loss order, or to ensure that discharged LGBT servicepeople got their due as discharged veterans? No.

Once it was sealed and delivered on a silver platter in front of him, he signed it. That's all he did - he didn't fight for it, he didn't push for it, he didn't have anything to do with getting it through Congress.

Credit where it's due - but it's not in the DADT repeal.

Just like Mathesons in Utah, Machin in WV, Landrieu in LA, McIntyre in NC they'll never win re-election because their first elections were just flukes.
Your mentality that "Democrats have already lost" is the reason Democrats lose. The Republicans are able to keep moving further to the right because people like you insist that Democrats can't win so Democrats then go and move right ward.
      The Republican party thx you

Just like there is no way Matheson, McIntyre, Landrieu, Prior, and Machin could ever win re-election... oh wait...
Your mentality is the reason Democrats lose. Here is how it plays out.
      You: "Democrats can't win"
Democrat candidate: "Okay I can't win so I'll just have to be more Conservative.
Republicans: "Well since the Democrats are preemptively conceding then we'll just move even further right."
Left-wing voters: "Well fuck why should I vote when the Democrats keep adopting Republican policies?"
Right-wing voters: "Democrats are socialists freedom gay baby killing etc etc I don't care what they say I'm voting Republican."
      And the cycle goes on.
So the Republican party thanks you for helping them out.

Of course Democrats have to use their resources wisely, but if you inspect this district, you'll find two major population centers, Myrtle Beach and Charleston, a long coast, a large African-American population, a growing Hispanic population and so on.

I thought this district would go blue in my lifetime, but didn't think that opportunity would arise for another 12-16 years. But this is it! And we gotta fight for it.

I would tip you, but the man took away my tips.
