  •  Here in Wichita, teeny hail on Monday night, (6+ / 0-)

    and snow on Tuesday night.

    I keep thinking,
we're done with winter type weather,
    but the climate is changing,
    seems to me.

    I get the impression that
weather events that used to happen
once every two or three decades
    are happening every other year.

But it still seems normal here in Kansas,
since the memories of extreme weather
    seem the same,
    whether from decades ago,
    and just once,
    or from this year,
    and a few years back.

That's why it's hard to convince
    any Kansas Republicans
    that climate change is real,
no matter how much the climate changes.

    But the insurance premiums
for the insurance that pays to repair
    damage to homes,
    that has gone up,
    so I'm told.

    Gone up a lot.

    the insurance companies,
looking at actual damage to homes,
and the trend of more such damage in recent years,
    is charging folks accordingly.

I hope we don't all go broke,
    paying those premiums.

Bringing a child into the world at this point in history is a crime, the crime of child endangerment.

My insurance went up $40 a month even though I've never claimed on it just because other people in the area have.

I really am coming to dislike paying for-profit insurance companies and supporting their not-so-prepped or careful clients.

I feel the same way about auto insurance (54 years driving and not one single ticket or accident) - I've paid enough in auto insurance to have purchased my house and another car.

And health insurance! I haven't made a claim on that in decades, so I am footing the bills for people who don't take care of their health to the point that when I need, who will be paying for my health care?
