  •  That said, is there ANY electable Dem in MT (7+ / 0-)

who would be a clear upgrade from Schweitzer?

If the options are Schweitzer or a Republican't, I'm going to take Schweitzer every time.

If the options are a half a progressive or a Blue Dog, I'll take the half a progressive every time, too.

Take the best you can get now, and work on developing better.

to abstain because he is not goo don climate change.  She does not live there and she can chose who she supports with money or words.

      •  Quite like that Schweitzer (6+ / 0-)

... wouldn't need climate change carbon-related activists to get elected. No problem there: Put support elsewhere on other candidates instead. There will be plenty to choose from, equally worthy of support.

Bottom line for me is that Schweitzer's an improvement over Baucus, and would be way, way better than Rehberg or anyone else the GOP might put up. Add to that the question of the majority, which won't necessarily be easy to keep - have you looked at the matchups? It's also worth considering whether one prefers Barbara Boxer or James Inhofe as chair of a key Senate Committee related to climate change.

    •  My main point was on 2016, not 2014 (1+ / 0-)

Schweitzer would certainly be an upgrade from Baucus, and I'd be happy to see him win that seat.  I just don't care for the presidential speculation.

      •  Fair enough. (0+ / 0-)

I can understand this view—yes for the Senate, maybe/probably/definitely not for the WH—with absolutely no problems.
