    The come back is - "Have your religious beliefs. We have a secular government."

    That is the winning comeback. That is the correct comeback.

    The local school board will not change their minds because of a deconstruction of their religion.  Sorry.

      An overwhelming majority of Missouri state legislators, both houses, are religious-right teaPublicans. Sending them emails and visiting their offices on lobby days are exercises in frustration. I do those activities nonetheless, but I understand that the knuckleheads may never be swayed.

      Places like Missouri have a sad legacy of racism, homophobia, misogyny, and anti-intellectual bullying that continues even in much of the younger generation. People tell you they are proud of being ignorant. As an educator of young adults, I see some hope, but it will take a couple of generations to turn this red state around and bring it into the 1990's.
