    Experienced database administrator/programmer/developer in Baltimore?

For this type of job posting, the company is obligated to pay the non-US worker at least the prevailing wage for the job in the local labor market.

This is to protect immigrant workers from indentured-servitude wage levels, and also to prevent employers from weakening the wage levels enjoyed by US workers.

It's the best protection, really, in the PERM program - it's no guarantee (nothing is when business and money get in bed together) but its aim is to ensure that businesses only utilize the program when they absolutely need the foreign-worker talent, and not for reasons of undercutting salaries.

    •  This is a fake job posting. (7+ / 0-)

What this means is there is already a H-1B worker working in this job, and the employer wants to hire the person permanently.

They are required to post this.  Even if you have the exact qualifications for this job you will just be wasting your own time.

Your interview will be conducted by the H-1B who will get the job if he can show you don't qualify.  What are the odds he will choose you over himself?  He will find some reason why no-one qualifies.  You will not be told the reason such that you can challenge it.  THe reason you will get is that there was another more qualified candidate.

THe company will tell the USCIS that no qualified Americans applied for the position.
