    a balance between getting something, and the thought that further action might damage the value of the rest of the share assets held.

    My one question is that seeing that the Murdochs are shareholders, are they entitled to any of this payout? :)

      ... in some respect, and I didn't think about the damage to the value of the remaining share assets. Thanks, ceebs! Excellent diary, by the ways.  

      Maybe that is how they structure the settlement fairly by not paying out to any of the Murdochs or company-president-level or other implicated officers?

        But I'd put nothing beyond the Murdochs, and you never know the ways they might manage to divert cash :)
