    The Naturalization Act that accompanied the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 raised the residence requirement to become a citizen from 5 to 14 years. As I tell my classes, it was to say "Hello, Mr. Immigrant. Did you think you would be able to vote for Thomas Jefferson? Forget it."

    Today's Republican Party: The heirs of the Federalists, except Hamilton and Adams pere would be rolling over in their graves if they thought I was trying to associate them with, say, Louis Gohmert.
