Indeed the entire Party hierarchy thought that Hillary's coronation was a done deal---until Obama came along. Through purely masterful organizing, Obama managed to take on and beat BOTH parties' political machines---the Hillary/Dem machine and then the rightwing/GOP machine. That was something few people could have done.

Sadly, Obama's governing skills are nowhere near his campaigning skills . . . .

Which leads me to believe that Obama's best and most useful work will happen AFTER he leaves office, when he starts organizing for Dem candidates. What the party needs desperately is for Obama to repeat his previous feat----to take an unknown liberal from the fringes of the Dem Party and propel her/him to the top--but this time to do the same thing throughout the entire party, replacing completely the old ossified Eisenhower Republicans with new young progressive Democrats (that ACT LIKE DEMOCRATS). Do that, and we will dominate politics for the next generation.  Do it not, and we will continue to stumble in our current ineffectual codependence with the goppers.
