  •  There's nothing wrong with chores as a community. (0+ / 0-)

I have "classroom jobs" in the US as well. Not so many as I had when I taught in South Korea or Japan, but some. Students do clean up and do basic chores in the classroom, and there's nothing wrong with a school deciding all students should do chores in the lunchroom etc. It's only when you can opt out of that via money that it becomes degrading to the students who can't. In Japan (in my experience), school lunch IS provided to the students at no cost (no additional cost) anyway. And generally everyone eats it and eats the same thing. Community.
