Be aware of what you're using to make these things. Read and heed the warnings on paint and glue bottles. Work outside or in a well-ventilated workshop or garage, not in your living space. Avoid cutting or sanding fiber composites, but if you must, isolate and dispose of all the resultant dust. (It tends not to wash out of clothes — instead it spreads around the washer & dryer and gets on other clothes.) Let any volatiles dry thoroughly before bringing them inside (takes longer in colder conditions). Invest in an appropriately rated respirator, rubber gloves, etc. as warranted... You can do amazing things with modern industrial materials, but human beings definitely didn't evolve to tolerate them.

Personally, I like balsa wood, cardboard, and wood glue — "organic" hobbying!

I spent a fair bit of my youth building balsa wood fabric covered model planes. I suppose airplane dope was a gateway drug to my later years of fun.....
