  •  From when I was canvassing (6+ / 0-)

I found it interesting that some people seem to have party registration that does not match up with their beliefs at all (unless the databases just produce errors).  When I was canvassing in Philadelphia, I remember coming across an elderly woman, listed as a Democrat, who started blabbing to me about that right-wing Obama 2016 documentary.  "It's true!  I saw it in a movie!" was the gist of her comments.  I tried to end the conversation as politely and quickly as possible because I realized that it was not going to go anywhere, especially given the tone of her voice.

    •  I had a similar experience in 2006 (3+ / 0-)

Went to one house where the supposed Dem hijacked me and spent 20 minutes regurgitating NRA talking points.

who's 68, is still a registered Democrat but hasn't voted Democratic in 35 years. She's the biggest Fox News, pro-Bush, anti-Obama, anti-immigrant, etc. person I know. Reads the NY Post every single day. She never bothered to change her registration, either out of laziness or getting a kick out of saying, "but I'm a Democrat."

Republicans...think the American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire the Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it. Harry S. Truman
