  •  Nice to see the Sierra Club taking strong stands (4+ / 0-)

    on these issues.

But there is nothing more important for the long time stability of civilized society and global survival than Climate Change, and the ongoing increased use of fossil fuels.

When I go to the SC web site, I had to look beyond the home page to arrive at the Beyond fossil fuels campaigns, and the link to the excellent Compass article on Keystone XL is not easy to find. The words "climate change" aren't on the home page.

That said, I applaud the strong stance and activism of the SC in fighting KXL.

But if the SC has lost membership, perhaps it's related to the perception that the club seems more concerned with self promotion than activism. The web site doesn't greatly help that perception. And the shift towards immigration reform, while important, seems to distract significantly from the SC's historic core environmental mission. Sorry, but that doesn't convince me to come back to making SC a first choice for my advocacy dollars.

    •  Almost ended my SC membership the first month. (1+ / 0-)

The magazine was entirely focused on, well, youngsters.  (Does that date me?)  At least CBF and Yosemite knew I was no longer a teenage hiker with trust fund monies to fly to Bhutan.

Then came my personal great liquidation, and there are no more $ for anyone.  Even as SC moves more strongly in directions I approve of.
