You see the slaughter in Syria. You see our president trying to stop it, and all you can say is that he wants to profit? That his efforts so far have not been sufficiently profitable, and therefore, we must escalate?

How come Iraq nearly bankrupt us, but somehow Syria will bring us profits? Do you hear yourself?

I'm afraid that my signature won't match the mood of my comment.

    •  I didn't say anything about the POTUS (6+ / 0-)

personally.  But certainly it's no secret that there are lots of interests involved, and that "our side" is just as brutal as "theirs."

Oh, and Iraq may have bankrupted you, but certain elements of our society made, and continue to make, a killing (literally and figuratively) from that war.  These same elements will profit from escalated conflict with Syria, and what's left of the American social safety net will continue to be ravaged to pay for it.

Dogs from the street can have all the desirable qualities that one could want from pet dogs. Most adopted stray dogs are usually humble and exceptionally faithful to their owners as if they are grateful for this kindness. -- H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej

I'm not convinced that we should intervene at this point, but there's obviously a humanitarian justification. Clinton did the same thing in Bosnia, and the world didn't end.
