  •  I was 8 years old (20+ / 0-)

I flew from Westchester County Airport on the old Mohawk Airlines to Detroit, where we connected to Traverse City Michigan (I do not remember on which airline) for my first summer at National Music Camp in Interlochen Michigan, 1954.

    I got airsick.

It took me a while until I got used to flying.

In my career in data processing I used to fly quite frequently and it no longer bothered me - that included trips to Toronto, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Mexico City, Grand Junction CO, Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas - Fort Worth, Chicago, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Toulouse FR, Paderborn Germany . . .  among others.

I was last on plane returning from Oakland where I had flown to drive to Lafayette CA for the 100th birthday of my first cello teacher, who as it happens was responsible for that first plane trip, since she had been the one to persuade our parents that my sister and I should go to Interlochen.  I am glad she did, since it was one of the most important influences in forming me.  Thanks again, Rubi Wentzel.
