    The Alawis, Druze & Christians that form the backbone of support for the Syrian government can hardly be termed Islamic radicals. These groups have historically been (& remain) staunch advocates of secular government.

    Does one really advocate jumping into this nasty sectarian war so that we can "diminish Hezbollah & Iran in the process"? So that Sunni fundamentalists can rule Syria instead of the Baath Party?

    All this glib talk of military intervention, especially seeing it come from the left, is making me nauseous.
