...types of co-housing things. The best examples I've seen are in the Netherlands. But now I know about what's happening in Oakland. It makes so much sense to do in urban areas (which are expensive places to live too).

Thanks for another incredible article Sven. Say, when you get super famous and get to go to things like the Correspondents Dinner, will you still admit you know me?...

I will give a big shoutout to the sage from paradise, for a hefty shoutout fee of course. :-) But seriously, I don't think they would ever invite me, I don't even own a suit. Plus I don't know if I could stand all the phony shoulder rubbing, it's just not my thing. Maybe you could be my proxy...

I also think cohousing makes a lot of sense in an urban context, like building a little small town oasis within the big city frenzy while still being part of the larger organism. But I can also see the benefits of having cohousing in a suburban or rural area, where it's probably easy to get isolated sometimes. Ecovillage Ithaca is a great example of an intentional and sustainable community in a suburban setting.

...here (a friend of ours has land and water and a huge garden and chickens and horses and solar pumped water from a well for all of it.

We plan on each having our own "home" on the land, but doing all the rest communally...
