about a third of the way through, but I haven't seen the movie yet.  I'm liking the contrast in the voices, and the way each piece uses a different style of narration:  journal, series of letters, third-person narration, interview, etc.  So far the connections between the pieces aren't all that clear but it's definitely keeping me turning the pages.

Some of the stories-within-stories are better paced than others,of course.  My favorite so far is the science-fiction piece about the clone in a world run by corporations.  I love what he does with the language:  a lot of everyday objects are referred to by brand names, the way we say "kleenex" to mean any brand of tissue.  So coffee is "a cup of starbuck," all shoes are called nikes (there's even a saying about "pulling yourself up by your nike-straps"), and films are "disneys."  When a character "put on a pornslash disney," I was like, "OMG that's just WRONG."
