  •  Unfortunately you're a much better musician than (5+ / 0-)

me.  I no longer have a kit.  I play on bongos and congas now.  Also, my hours of work really inhibit being able to put a band together.  Maybe after I totally retire I'll try to get into a band again.  BTW:  I think you are a gifted writer so I'm selfishly glad you didn't become a rock star!

If we really want to straighten out all this crap we really need to think about shit - Holy Shit.

I'm mostly playing acoustic these days, mostly because I don't feel like shlepping amps around anymore, so that'll work great.

As far as the writing, some of my best work I think is the lyrics to those songs. They are pretty much all about eco-spirit and soul transformation, but in the rockn roll world that can often get lost, so I felt like I needed to become more literal and direct, and non-fiction eco-writing seems better suited for that. But I do think the poetry of songwriting helped me become a more engaging journalistic writer. If I had to choose what to do with my life in any other era of human existence I would have been a poet or troubadour, but with the current grave situation we find ourselves in I feel it's my duty to step out of my dreamy comfort zone and use my skills in service of less sublime and more survival-oriented earthly objectives.
