    but then I remember the early 60's, when the "Fair Bear" wage (around the UC campus) was $1.65/hour, gas was 30 cents/gallon, a small apartment was $65/month and you could often buy 10 lbs of chicken wings at the CoOp for $1.00.  In fact there was a CoOp Cookbook titled "Dollar Dinners" . . . (they served four).

    Back when a penny was worth something (although the "penny postcard" was already two cents to mail . . .)

    Ya think maybe this "inflation" thing is just all fu**ed up?
