    Because in my experience, that's simply false.  Your views are swayed by a particular, vocal brand of Christian.

    There are some, sure.  But you're conflating all groups together, which is just what the diarist is warning against.

    I would also venture that most of the social-conservative types who pander to right-wing Christians aren't actually religious themselves.  Rick Santorum probably is--but he's probably one of the rare few.

      to be honest. I live in the very red panhandle of Florida and the vast majority of Christians here are of the Teahadist ilk. I used to not think about religion much one way or another and considered myself  basically agnostic but the longer I lived here the more I hated religion and eventually just threw in the towel and called myself an atheist. If you even admit to being an atheist around here you are shunned and take the risk of losing your job so yeah, not much use for them.
