  •  Dates back to Ronald Reagan (5+ / 0-)

Born on the leading edge of the baby boom, I huddled under my school desk practicing what to do in a nuclear attack, thought the world would end during the Cuban missile crisis, watched Watergate unfold and then watched the Republican party dismantle the country under Reagan. I couldn't figure out what they thought they were doing.

By the end of that 12-year reign of error, I was convinced that the party of the rich and no-nothings had decided that the "American Century" was over and that the only thing that made sense was for them to get everything they could before it was too late.  This still seems to be the pattern, no?

the sour cream on a generational "entitlement" binge. I can remember being one of the older ones, first grade no less, at a party for a family friend's three year old and being shocked, just shocked I tell you, at the Nero like excess of that birthday party. All previous parties had been with short rations of sugar and this one went berserk with the ice cream, cake, a clown and pony rides! Twenty years later I saw it was just a dawning of me, me, me.

On a mild level I saw it in adults that really don't know much, yet have good jobs and instead of doing things themselves, like fix it up & make it do, just bought it. The sour cream of those entitlement attitudes seems to have risen to the top of the old Republican party and drowned it in a tea cup.

The only foes that threaten America are the enemies at home, and those are ignorance, superstition, and incompetence. [Elbert Hubbard]
