    NOT keep track of who has or had any given book except for the current checkout and the most recent one before that in case of damage discovered by the next patron. When people tell me they wish I could help them keep track I tell them to call their Congressman and explain, because we are following the recommendations of our State Library, and don't want to lie to the FBI if they come calling. We simply "don't know" who's read what and hen or why.

    Meanwhile, some of the evidence against the Excedrin Murderer was that she left her fingerprints in the poison books overdue from the library...
