with Sullivan!  Both are pro-life - gotta fight that.

Women are 51% of the population yet are represented in congress by barely 17%! Until our representation reflects the population, we risk sliding backwards .....

    •  Why, is Sullivan the stronger Republican? (0+ / 0-)

    •  Sullivan is stronger than Gomez (0+ / 0-)

But thats more of a testament to the borderline illiterate embarrassment that the second coming of Jack E. Robinson is.

Winslow was the only person who had a shot to win this for the GOP, and then only if the party rallied to ensure he had sufficient resources and a clear field.

Markey should not be all too happy with this result. He has ran a lifeless campaign, and he is immensely lucky Scott Brown passed this time around. While Brown would be DOA against Patrick in 2014, Markey's odds against Brown this spring would be almost as bad with the campaign he has run.

      •  I see Gomez as much stronger (3+ / 0-)

Sullivan is a fairly standard-issue Republican. His resume in public service is better than Gomez's but he was a pretty boring candidate and his fundraising was anemic. He's also the most socially conservative of the Republicans, which doesn't fly in a general election here.

Gomez is exactly the kind of "fresh face," moderate, bi-partisan-y, "I'm not really a politician" Republican who might have a chance in Massachusetts. He spent more than a decade in private equity (love to get some dirt on that) and has gobs of money and gobs of rich friends. I could see a lot of people in Weston, Wellesley, etc. going for him. His age and Latino heritage offer a contrast as well. Fortunately it seems the hardcore right wing crowd is pissed enough to sit this one out.

I think Markey should win, based on issues, but I see Gomez as tougher than Sullivan to run against.

Republicans...think the American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire the Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it. Harry S. Truman
