    Any government actor (public school fits) cannot interfere with a person's life, freedom or property (a contract may tie in freedom and property) unless:

    1. Adequate notice is given - you must be fully notified of the accussations, there should be no accussation that you have not heard prior to;

    2. A meaningful opportunity to be heard - whole case books have been written about what "meaningful" means but at the very least it should entail your right to produce evidence and witnesses of your choosing, right to confront witnesses against you and the right to a nuetral tribunal.

    The first thing you must do is find the written procedures guiding a situation such as yours, if they are not following them to the letter, tuck that away and share it with your attorney.  And, yes, get an attorney.

    Good luck-- I know it must suck,but sometimes these witch hunts leave the districts wide open for law suits- - record everything!

    Blessed are the peacemakers, the poor, the meek and the sick. Message to Repug Fundies: "DO you really wonder "what would Jesus do?" I didn't think so.

      In the federal case I heard the ruling went against the Board of Education for having effectively destroyed the young woman livelihood.

      No one would hire her after they drove her out of town. Unfortunately, it took years for the case to wend its way through the courts. By the time it got to federal court it could be clearly demonstrated that the BOE had ended her career.

      That was nearly 25 years ago, but if I remember correctly both #1 (the accusations weren't public) and #2 (she didn't have an opportunity to defend herself) were at play in that case.

      The really sickening part was listening to the testimony of the people involved in the decision to fire her. No remorse, no contrition, no sense that perhaps they made a mistake. They were still adamantly convinced that what they did was for the "good of the community".

      In 2013 rturner is dealing with the ignorant offspring of those small minded people ... the same ignoramuses shouting about "liberty" and "the Constitution!" and sending their cousins to Congress.
