Children shooting guns at age 7 and having "free access" as teenagers is completely negligent parenting. Oh, wait they took a pledge? Phew! I feel so much safer. I'm sure a teenager has never done anything like take a pledge and then not follow through.

There is no such thing as "responsible" gun handling, just varying levels of irresponsibility. That is true of adults (don't believe me? Come join me at the hospital I work in sometime) but infinitely more so for children. My word.

If you're a LE officer, use your gun in your work then lock it up. There is no need to give them to the children.

we just made sure they were secured and everyone who entered the house safe from irresponsible handling of the guns.
It's nice that you tried to be so careful. I'm sure no one has ever made a mistake with securing a gun, ever never. Damn sure nobody I cared about would visit your house.

"There is no such thing as "responsible" gun handling, just varying levels of irresponsibility."  This is a ridiculous statement.  Many of my friends hunted in their teens.  A firearm is a tool that can be dangerous. So can a circular saw.  Is there no such thing as responsible circular saw handling.  Good grief.

Circular saw deaths last year again exactly?

Just because your friends hunted with something and lucked out of bodily harm doesn't make them "responsible". It makes them lucky. Guns are tools for killing, there is no need for them (real hunters use bows) and owning or using them in this society is self-evidently irresponsible. Good grief indeed.

        •  self-evident????????????? (0+ / 0-)

Owning a gun is not self-evidently irresponsible.  A firearm is a  legitimate tool.  It is also a legal right.  I do not except your omniscience on this issue at all.
