  •  And KeystoneXL *DOES* matter, not only for the (5+ / 0-)

huge extra dose of carbon that it will put into the atmosphere, and not only for the potential for environmental catastrophe associated with pipeline breaches, but also for the signal that it sends to the world about the resolve of the United States of America to take Climate Change seriously.

The implications of sending the wrong message to the world are incalculable, but will certainly be enormously negative.

Again, somehow, we have to make President Obama understand that THIS is a huge part of his legacy. That if he approves Keystone XL, then his reputation will be severely tarnished, for whatever time remains for a functioning civilization on this planet.

    •  absolutely the xl pipeline does matter! (0+ / 0-)

but the pipeline is there to deliver energy for many things including livestock production and animal feed.  You reduce the market and the pipeline is irrelevant.  But we're needing to reduce the short lived climate pollutants as an emergency and livestock production is the greatest contributor to the short lived climate forcers.
