  •  Once the Evangelical Christian God (17+ / 0-)

raptures up "his people", and the Radical Islamic God takes all the suicide bombers to heaven to receive their allotted 72 virgins.......I think there's a good chance that the rest of us could co-exist rather nicely, and the planet might be a pretty decent place to live.

    •  All of that would be fine, but these (7+ / 0-)

radical religious factions seem to believe that completely trashing the world before they leave is what has to happen in order for them to leave.

Sounds almost like a teen-ager's notion of getting his (or her) hands on the family car and having a good time--despite harming the car--before heading out of town to college. If you personally are not going to suffer any consequences, then heck, who cares?--that seems to be the theory.

    •  I was thinking that, too... (3+ / 0-)

I "only" want to peacefully coexist with my family and friends.

Really, it doesn't take much to make me happy.  Roof over my head, warmth in the winter, AC for summer, antihistamines to stop sneezing jags my flipping allergies give me, internet access so I can do genealogy research, enough non-allergic food to munch on, my books to surround me, arts and crafts I already have and want to get back to in between doing genie research... really, not asking for miracles here.

I'd like to see our rights returned to us before I die, and all illegal and unconstitutional legislation repealed, a decent health care plan.

I'm old.  I plan to live to age 100 with my mind intact..., and that's only 33 years from now.  I won't be around all that much longer in terms of time spans for the planet; not even half a blink's worth of time.

Peaceful coexistence with family and friends doesn't seem like too much to ask.

I'm sick of attempts to steer this nation from principles evolved in The Age of Reason to hallucinations derived from illiterate herdsmen. ~ Crashing Vor
