is that I -me, me, me - should go on for ever & ever & ever

(actually, this for me would be one definition of Hell - does no Christian ever think on what "forever" really means?)

    •  Compare to the Buddhist idea (0+ / 0-)

Many Buddhists take bodhisattva vows, saying they will stay put to help all sentient beings, until all are enlightened, rather than turning in their own ticket the minute they get enlightened and getting the hell out of Dodge.

    •  I am actually a Christian, (0+ / 0-)

meaning a follower of the philosopher Jesus of Nazareth.  Forever?  Not really sure what that means.  Heaven is defined as being eternally in the presence of the Creator, and hell is to be eternally apart.  These are states of being, not actual places.  I don't think that our souls or spirits or whatever you want to call them will have any sort of sense of time in the next world.  Recognition of the passage of time is a mortal thing...
