  •  Yes, were you also not surprised by the story (0+ / 0-)

about W, with regards to Gog and Magog?

I wasn't surprised in the least. But then I knew about Dominionism way back then, and could tell by his particular brand of Dog Whistle Politics, what he and his ilk were up to.

Chirac recounts that the American leader appealed to their “common faith” (Christianity) and told him: “Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East.... The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled.... This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins.”

This bizarre episode occurred while the White House was assembling its “coalition of the willing” to unleash the Iraq invasion. Chirac says he was boggled by Bush’s call and “wondered how someone could be so superficial and fanatical in their beliefs.”

Bizarre but not isolated. Esp not, thanks to the creation of Faith Based Initiatives, and the tolerance of the yahoos on C-Street.

I don't want to care about what religion a person might be, but sadly, I am force to care as an act of self preservation.

but think I'd have been a little surprised at my having had any hope the other direction.  My knee-jerk opposition to anything W proposed served me well under his 8 year reign of (t)error.

      Amen, sadly.
