    In fact except for Ohio, it seems like no state outside the south actually executes anyone these days.
    It got me thinking and I wanted to look up some stats.

    There are a few other northern states in recent years but they run fairly red.  This site has a count since 1976 with detail in the last 4 years.

    With Maryland there will be 18 states with no death penalty.  Making it 6 to change since 2007.  Previous to 2007 we have to go back to 1984 before we find another state that switched.  That really looks like a trend to me, but I have no hope of change for the southern states.
