  •  Can't agree on the cocaine part (0+ / 0-)
by and large Americans have a track record of responsibility with marijuana, cocaine and long guns -- YOU may not approve but the vast vast majority of users do so without harming their  neighbors, their families, or even their social productivity
Seen too many people ruin marriages, families, harm others and destroy their productivity via cocaine. That drug should not be legal. Sorry. And I'm not talking about the crack version, either.

Drugs don't harm people, people harm themselves.

Some people are weak, some are genetically disposed to "addictive personalities" and some are just unlucky.  That's no reason to blame an innocent substance derived from plants.

If we consider 18,000 firearm suicides and another 12000 homicides an acceptable price to pay in defense of 2nd Amendment Liberty ...  then a certain amount of human misery is a small price to pay for the  principle "my body my choice."

It's not that cocaine is harmless ... or even that it ought to be legal ... it's that  given the ENORMOUS quantity imported and consumed, the amount of harm is comparatively small.

Similarly with long guns:   it's not that they're not used in suicides, murders and robberies ... it's that given that there's something like 300 MILLION of the things "out there"  (some estimates of AK/AR units in circulation push the 1 million mark)  ...  comparatively few people are harmed by them  -- at least as compared to handguns.
