to question him under the public safety exception, sixteen hours of interrogation and repeatedly denying his requests for counsel and then leaking selective statements to the press are not the marks of an "overriding concern for public safety."

They're not marks of a concern for his rights as a defendant, but they're certainly compatible with concern for public safety.

Even if it was 16 actual hours, how long does it take to write answers when you're that impaired?  How do you live through a 16 hour interrogation with those injuries plus the obvious stresses of surviving a manhunt?

More significantly, how do his rights trump the rights of other people his actions did/might endanger?  This is the equivalent of the RW 2nd Amendment defenses- my right to own a killing machine trumps your right to live free of killing machines.

You have no proof that he was deprived of rights simply because the big bad government wants to be bigger and badder but that doesn't stop you from claiming that's the only thing that's real and true.

And you seem very annoyed by government leaks that were basically reassurances that there's not a huge Al-Qaeda terror cell operating in Boston.  If Big Government was looking to strip us of more rights they screwed the pooch on this.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.

        must be "bad", right?

this is getting so old - a diary a day to try to justify one's own prior actions using any and every incident possible.  well, it isn't working, imho.
