    for a man to murder his wife and her lover if he caught them in flagrante delicto.

    But in the Araujo case there was planning and preparation for the murder among the guys, so it was first degree murder -- not a sudden outburst at the time of "discovery". So the "trans panic" defense was bogus on the face of it. Nevertheless it worked, because it allowed the jury to declare its view that males killing a person such as Gwen Araujo is perfectly understandable and not too much of a crime.

    And you would be hard pressed to find a jury in the US who would not agree with them.
