Evangelicals have a complex about this becuase they perceive that the early Christians were persectued by Rome and they identify strongly with them - in their heads.

Any time someone dares to criticize born again thinking, which is that they are right and everyone else is wrong, that means that they aren't being allowed to have complete domination which they deserve since they are the ones who have the right revelation about God.  No one else does.

Evangelicals are dangerous because they do not believe there is any sort of argument.  They are right.  That is all.

That would be extremely dangerous to the rest of us if this were allowed to become completely dominant among the US military.

Dominionists want the Constitution re-written because they think that "separation of church and state" is an error.  They should be installed as the national official religion.  It would not be long before they instituted police and courts as a means of enforcing adherence to religious doctrine.  Never doubt that they would.

hope that the idiots who have no constructive and creative solutions but only look to tear down will not win the day.

    •  Why is it that they focus on ancient Rome? (0+ / 0-)

Specifically the second and third centuries?

Christians ought to look at a slightly wider time-frame.  By the end of the fourth century, the Christians were running Rome and they were as brutal or worse than the pagans before them. Read about Theodosius, a real prick if ever there was one.  Read about Constantine, the first Christian emperor, who had his son Crispus killed on a rumor and seems to have been unusually wicked and manipulative, even for a Roman emperor.
