    It's just a matter of who they protect and who they serve.

    To a large extent they exist because we don't build the kinds of communities that don't need them.  The more responsibility we are willing and able to take, the fewer institutions of coercion we'll have to be threatened (and even murdered) by.
    A million times yes. Doing nonviolence and de-escalation training is a first step toward this. As is organizing our society in a more just way that allows for all to participate in decision making about their life and their community.

    If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.
