  •  God is the manifested universe (9+ / 0-)

On the other hand one of my favorite Gods is the sun.

It provides for all on this planet. It holds us to itself — provides a place for us to be — so that we don't fly out into deep space.

It provides life-sustaining light and warmth. It shines on the rich man as well as the poor man. Without that energy, there wouldn't be life.

The sun is one of the most palpable gods ever!

Your god is manifest to you personally every day.

Most gods are manifest only to someone else, usually long dead, that you were told about in the form of stories.

I, on the other hand, slather on the sunscreen before I go to meet your god.

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. --Herman Melville
