"...of keeping everything from happening at once."

I don't have any more problem imagining an infinite past than I do imagining that my mother spoon fed me mashed squash from a gerbers jar.  I don't happen to be able to remember either in any level of detail at this point in my life, but it does not mean I cannot grok the concept.

Something tells me that if I remembered everything at once all the time, it would be about as maddening as knowing every detail about the future would be.

The questions aren't the entangled "Why is there is something rather than nothing?" and "Is there a God?" they are actually two separate questions: "How does the universe/multiverse somehow manage to serialize?" and "What are the parameters that cause/limit the effective intelligence of a given system?"

The former question deals with the issue of the nature of consciousness and infinity, and the latter with the issue of what "higher powers" (whether conscious or autonomic) may have consequential/understandable effects.  Both are open questions we as a race have barely even begun to answer, and accepting that we are so far from the answers can, yes, be difficult.

    Ignorance is Curable.
