    It seems like its important to you to keep communities together, so much as is possible, but its difficult to choose which community you want to fit people into.

    Maine generally has a lot of homogeneity as regards race, its mostly all white. Its employment is more along the lines of hunting and gathering (fishing and forestry) than manufacturing although there are some large farms in the north.

    There are some communities of interest as regards things like religion and historical or traditional occupations; boat building, furniture and tool making, film making, wine making, maintaining small farms, fisheries, logging, recreation and tourism but I have no idea where you would go to get a comprehensive demographic.

    From what I have seen we divide things up by county politically and thus are nowhere near as sophisticated as your approach.
