Once I feel secure in my housing, this is something that I will look into very seriously.

Back when I lived in the suburbs, my garden was wonderful. I'd spend all winter planning the garden, and as soon as the soil allowed I'd be digging up different patches to see if they needed sweetening or souring for the crops I had in mind. I could work in a garden all day long, and still find more I'd enjoy doing.

    Maybe going indoors ...

What can you tell me about HUD housing?

I have a community garden plot- 20'x30'- space to grow enough to share with my neighbors and preserve enough for winter. Heaven.
The one thing that keeps me sane.

HUD info for NY state- go to the homepage for other options.

HUD and USDA provide rental assistance for seniors, the disabled and low income families, which i believe is called Section 8.

Check out the links- it does take months to find and apartment, unless you are very lucky, due to the rise in applications due to....well, you know.

There is subsidized housing in every state and in Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

Best of luck- i know how it is to be hit with big changes but just try not to panic - there are options out there .
