        •  stay for a week or 3 (5+ / 0-)

wear out those shoes...follow along on Google earth:

We are talking about next maybe nearby Guadalupe Dunes' Oso Flaco lake and dune boardwalks, (today was the beach access point exactly to the south of Guadalupe town)

and then Point Sal to the south at the north edge of VAFB,

then the south edge of VAFB at the Santa Ynez rivermouth, and south on the beach to as near to Point Conception as we can...

then Jalama Beach park just east of Point Conception,

then Gaviota beach and trails, then Refugio, and two new trails there and nearby,

then Devereaux Lagoon and beach and Elwood Mesa, the UCSB utility road to access the upper Goleta Slough, and the Goleta Slough mouth itself,

then More Mesa and San Antonio Creek, and Lake Los Carneros (mountain lion sighting...bobcat probably)

then Carpinteria Beach park and Slough and the Seal Rookery,

then SB harbor and the SB Bird Refuge..ummm...oh yeah,
then back country Lakes, about 5

          several back country rivers,

          mountain trails

Ventura River mouth and various coastal Lagoons along there...I forgot something..hmm.

Lake Cachuma has a bird cruise: Ospreys, Bald Eagles, Herons...water, hills..and not expensive..I think I might have seen Violet Green Swallows there at that time, no picture, just a glimpse at something flashy..

Oh yeah, one of the largest land grant ranch parcel collections was just inducted into the local land trust...it is adjacent to the San Julian Ranch, and goes from hwy 1 north to Hwy 246, and east to hwy 101..a huge ranch land that is among the finest views in California.

I don't know if that's going to be open to hiking, (I doubt it, but maybe), but I have hiked on the San Julian Ranch..and it is really magnificent..I am an idiot for not doing more of it..

Where do you want to start first?

oh yeah, and the Islands..Island Packers charter to the Islands is usually less than $100 per person to any island, some you just can't land on, some you can: Santa Cruz east end is a day trip and overnight as well. 5 years ago Santa Cruz day trip with 6 hours on the island was $65..and porpoises and whales (right now blue and humpback in addition to the grey whales I saw today) and seabirds..an Albatross last time...and a Golden Eagle and a Raven skwabbling..Goldens have been deported now, pigs gone, Foxes coming back and so are the Peregrines and Bald Eagles. And flowers...and small birds...and...and..

Other island hikes are available but not officially, bring a boat...also the other islands can be snuck onto..maybe. The Navy might shoot...but...there are other islands...

San Miguel is a guided hike..but any or all of these trips on their comfy catamarans are pretty good, and inexpensive for such a novel ride. Many seabirds and mammals and fish always seen..You can even take a boat to Richardson's Rock, a rocky pinnacle farther out. Island Packers has a website to tell you much more.

Maybe you should rent a house for a couple of months, and we have a jam session in a park weekly. Maybe a house trade, heh...and not with us, haha.  I like you too much for that!

          Ok, I tired myself out!

          And you remember the song:

'Come along and see me sometime
Bring your dinner in your hands
eat your lunch before you start
          and leave about suppertime'

haha, no, I kid, I kid! We'd love to wander around here with you...
