if it's a good idea to try to crack Douglas County, seeing as it is deep-red, fast-growing, and trended Republican last year.

Also, I'm not sure why you decided to put the Democratic areas of Colorado Springs into two districts, rather than one. It just seems unnecessary.

I made a map that would result in a 5-2 map where all Democrats are completely safe, and if Colorado gains an 8th seat in 2020 (which seems likely) then a 6-2 map is also possible.

I just think that the 1st and 3rd here are not safe enough for my liking, especially because Obama dropped a bit in those areas from 2008 to 2012. I'd rather have all Democrats be safe than risk a dummymander in a year like 2010.

But still, excellent job on the map, and I guess it seems that if Democrats are willing to completely split Denver, then 6-1 is theoretically possible in a good year.

    •  I think you might be right about the 3rd. (0+ / 0-)

It may be too tough to take, but I felt it better then completely ceding a district. As far as the 1st is concerned, I don't think it would be tough at all to take and hold.
